'WNC Goes Mobile With New Phone App' - Published by WNC edu

Need quick access to Western Nevada College registration information? Want to check your class schedule and find out about campus events? There’s an App for that.

A new blue and yellow WNC mobile phone app is ready to be downloaded free to smart phones, available from the online Apple App Store and also from Google Play. Typing www.wnc.edu/app into a mobile browser will also open up WNC's Mobile App in the App Store or Google Play for easy downloading.

Offering quick and efficient services is a high priority for Western Nevada College. With more cellphones capable of loading user-installed software, WNC has been planning for the day it could share its information with students and others through application software.

That day has arrived.

Students and the public now have quick access to event and class information, as well as news, maps and directory information for the college. Students will be able use the app to log-in to myWNC, the college’s online class registration system, check financial aid status and account balances, and obtain grades - all in one place.

“I’m very excited that the college now has its own app,” said Cesar Vega, a WNC programmer/analyst who was app project leader. “In this day and age, it’s important for students to have access to information via the one thing they can’t untether themselves from their phone.”

“By providing an app, we are giving students and the public an easy way to stay connected.”

WNC used Kryptos mobile to create the app, and secured funding for the project using student technology funding, Vega said.
